The success of Seeds of Compassion is directly related to the people who are part of the project. We welcome volunteers with a wide range of talents, interests and skills. Each of the volunteer positions listed below will most likely require more than one volunteer. Administrative Assistant and Office Team
The administration volunteers assists Seeds of Compassion in delivering its mission by providing clerical skills for various committees. Qualifications include professional written and verbal communication skills, excellent telephone etiquette, typing and filing, and excellent computer skills.
Administration Team Volunteers needed for up to 4 hours weekly, during mutually agreeable times.
Technology / Web / Database Team
The technology volunteers will assist in updating and maintaining the Seeds of Compassion Web site; partner with key staff to design and develop pages within the site, and assist in editing Web content. Also assist and support volunteers and staff with database management and reporting. Provide various technology or networking solutions to problems that arise as needed. Experience with HTML, general office networking, and database management is required. Experience with Salesforce.com a bonus.

Rapid Response Team
Due to the overwhelming response from community members and volunteers, we are looking for people who will respond to volunteer and community questions received from our Web site, staff emails, and in-person requests. We need qualified people who can create response templates and Frequently Asked Questions documents (FAQs), and to respond in writing, over the phone, or via e–mail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Patience, compassion and problem–solving skills a must as well as the ability to promote and maintain productive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Fluency in languages other than English is a plus.

Matchmaker & Volunteer Recruiter
The Volunteer Recruiter will recruit and assign volunteers to important Seeds of Compassion tasks and assist in “matching” committee leaders to interested qualified people in our community. The Volunteer Matchmaker & Recruiter will help establish effective organizational systems to track volunteers and their donations of time and services.

Volunteer Trainers
Volunteer Trainers will assist in scheduling, developing, and executing trainings for new volunteers on the Seeds of Compassion objectives and mission. In addition, trainers will provide instruction to volunteers at special events. There may also be opportunities to participate in general informational and educational briefings to the new members of our community. Public Speaking and Volunteer training background encouraged, but not required.

Communications Team (Marketing & PR)
We need talented people to design and distribute brochures, flyers, assist with newsletters and press releases, and possibly update Web site content. Qualifications include excellent written and verbal communication skills, typing and computer skills. Marketing and communications background encouraged, but not required.

Writer & Copyeditor
Writer & copyeditor volunteers will be responsible for working with our Education, Business, and Outreach Committee members to take their research and work and make it easily accessible for lay audiences who come to our Web site or pick up our printed collateral. While some materials will need to be researched and written, most of the work will involve editing already written articles. As the April 2008 Event approaches, additional projects will involve writing articles and collateral for distribution at the Event. Volunteers will work with the Communications Committee of Seeds of Compassion.
Writer & Copyeditor Volunteers need from 2–6 hour/week, during mutually agreeable time.
Coalition Research and Community Outreach Team
Coalition Team Volunteers will research community organizations, build a contacts database, and help to develop connections or follow–up on leads to broaden and expand the Seeds of Compassion mission to create a broad coalition of support. Internet research, excellent phone etiquette and customer service background encouraged.

Technical and Production Volunteers
The Production Network (TPN) is generously donating a variety of its services pro–bono to the Seeds of Compassion April 2008 events. Volunteers will support TPN on specific technical and event coordination. Volunteers will need a good understanding of venue logistics, technical plans, etc and will be involved in specific tasks in advance and onsite during event days
Technical and Production volunteers are needed from 2–10 hours/week, during mutually agreeable time. Volunteer time will increase in preparation for the Seeds major event in April
Donor and Volunteer Gratitude Team
Donor and Volunteer Gratitude Volunteers provide administrative support for fundraising appeals, organize and manage the stewardship functions of the office, including the writing of all acknowledgements, gift receipts, and thank you letters. Gratitude volunteers ensure that all individuals feel appreciated for their gifts of financial support or their donation of time and talent.

April Seeds of Compassion Event Volunteers
In April we will be hosting a four-day celebration of Children and Compassion to bring public awareness to the issues around early learning, social and emotional development and building empathy and compassion early in life.
